Can I order for someone else?
Of course you can order for someone else or use the credit card of someone that will not travel with you. The only requirements are:
- for the travelers to meet the Japan Rail Pass criteria
- that the name on the ticket corresponds to the name on the passport of the traveler.
Can I exchange someone else's voucher?
Be careful, once in Japan, the traveler himself has to be present when exchanging the voucher for the Japan Rail Pass. It is impossible to activate the Japan Rail Pass on someone else’s behalf, as the travelers’ passport, as well as the identity of the pass holder, must be checked.
Do children under the age of 6 have to pay?
Children under the age of 6 years old can travel for free as long as they travel with a pass holder. However they are not entitled to their own seat. If you want your child to have an individual seat, and even if the child is under 6 years old, you will need to buy a children's Japan Rail Pass.
At what age do children have to pay?
Children between the age of 6 and 11 years old have to travel with a children's Japan Rail Pass. From 12 years old the child will have to travel with an adult Japan Rail Pass.
