The JR East company has recently announced a brand new station on the JR Yamanote Line. The station will be located between Tamachi and Shinagawa Stations, which have a long stretch of 2 km between them with no stops.

The station will connect with the JR Keihin-Tohoku line and also provide access to the monorail that goes to Haneda Airport.

The designs for the new station are impressive to say the least. With the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in mind, the four-story station will include a public area with a fountain and a large screen for future viewing of sporting events that summer.

The new station designed by Kengo Kuma and twill have platforms on the first floor and concourse, gates and exits will be on the second floors. Shops are planned on the second and third floors. Indeed, This space isn't just for the olympics however; Eki Naka are being revamped all over the country to become central hubs for events, shopping, and more, so naturally this is a priority for the new station in Tokyo.

The roof will give the impression that it is made of a huge piece of paper and will look like an origami.
