Okayama Station East Exit

@Japan Visitor

Okayama Station is an important railway hub on the Sanyo Shinkansen from Osaka to Fukuoka and also has trains running south to Shikoku and north to Matsue.

Okayama Station Shopping

The area in and around Okayama Station is a major shopping and entertainment district. The station building itself has the Sun Station Terrace shopping center on the first to fifth floors with a number of restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, clothing stores and coin lockers. Okayama IchiBanGai is an underground shopping center on the first basement floor under the station.

The West Exit of Okayama Station is quieter with more office space, the Okayama Convention Center and the Okayama City Museum, whereas the East Exit has more shops and restaurants and is the livelier with many of Okayama's major hotels and stores grouped here, including a branch of Bic Camera.

At the East Exit of Okayama Station is a statue of Momotaro, which is a popular meeting place and a fountain. The Tourist Information Center is also at the East Exit and close by is the Momochari (ももちゃり) cycle rental center.
