Ride in the Northern Alps of Japan
The resort view Furusato train runs between Nagano and Minami-Otari and is covered with a Japan Rail Pass. All along the journey the view on the Northern Alps is breathtaking.
From Nagano to Minami Otari
All along the journey the view on the Northern Alps is breathtaking. Good news : behind the cab is the observation room, where you can sit in chairs or sofas and enjoy the great views ! The train is equipped with a hybrid engine motors.
In Nagano, connection is easy with the Hokuriku shinkansen if you are coming from Tokyo or Kanazawa.
Resort View Furusato Train (JLM)
The trains stops at Matsumoto Station along the way. Do not miss Matsumoto 's famous castle and the Japan Ukiyoe Museum.
Just before Minami Otari the resort view train stops in Hakuba, the former winter olympics event spot and one of the best ski spot in Japan accessible by rail.
As the train is not scheduled every day, it is better to check the operation date on the JR East website.
